  • I have taught for over 30 years. This is my 15th year in North Carolina, and this is my first year  at GVSA.

  • My wife is also an ELA teacher in CMS.

  • I was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in the countryside of Northeast Ohio.

  • Although I am not Amish, I was raised in a town which includes the 3rd largest Amish community in the United States

  • I have lived in Texas, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, North Carolina, S. Korea, Hong Kong, and China.

  • I lived and taught in Asia for eight years:

    • South Korea (one year)

    • Hong Kong (four years)

    • Chengdu, Sichuan, China (three years)

  • I have traveled to many other places in Asia: Philippines, Nepal, India, Vietnam, Thailand, and Tibet, China.
  • I have coached middle school football, baseball, and middle and high school basketball for many years.
  • I have also pleyed drums for over 50 years.
